GET Solar

A new program is available for any business, non-profit, or government agency in the greater Philadelphia region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties) to get free support from experts for going solar. The Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) has partnered with the Pennsylvania Solar Center and the Philadelphia Green Capital Corp. to deliver the Solarize Greater Philadelphia program which helps building owners streamline the feasibility, procurement, and implementation process of going solar.

How does it work? First, interested building owners complete a brief intake form to share information about their organization, building, and roof age/condition. PEA will then complete a high-level solar PV feasibility survey, including an estimate of how much electricity a system could potentially generate, and how much of the user’s electric bill this could defray. Next, if the building owner decides to continue the process, PEA works with vetted, regional solar developers that they procure through an unbiased competitive bidding process to obtain proposals for the building owner's project. PEA supports the building owner through the proposal selection process and helps develop a financing strategy for the project, using all available grants, loans and rebates.

The program uses the format of the PA Solar Center’s G.E.T. Solar program, which was developed to help reduce the barriers to going solar. Solarize Greater Philadelphia is funded by the William Penn Foundation and the Green Family Foundation.
