CCPC received an award for its Trail Planning Series.
The Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association held its 2025 Annual Conference from October 12-14 in Harrisburg, PA — the largest annual gathering of planners in the state!
Sixteen members of the Chester County Planning Commission (CCPC) attended this year's event, whether to present on specific topics or to participate in sessions and discussions. Here's a look at what they shared:
On Sunday, October 12, Community Planners Libby Horwitz and Chris Patriarca led a presentation on A+ Homes: Changing Minds and Addressing Housing Needs in a Growing Community. Here, they discussed the county's A+ Homes initiative and how it supports the housing goals of the comprehensive plan, Landscapes3. Their session included an overview, success stories, and lessons learned relating to housing options across the county.
On Monday, October 13, Libby teamed up again — this time with CCPC's Senior Demographer, Jake Michael, to present Modern Census Applications. They demonstrated how Census data informed Chester County's recent Housing Assessment, offering practical insights into applying data to understand and address local community needs.
Later that day, Community Planner Kevin Myers participated in a Fast, Fun, Fervent session focused on transportation, delivering a "lightning-speed" presentation on Active Transportation Plans and Better Bicycling Facilities.
In addition to the presentations, CCPC received an award for its Trail Planning Series, accepted by Executive Director Matt Edmond, Multimodal Transportation Planning Director Brian Styche, and Transportation Planner Steve Buck.
