Grant Funding Awards

We're excited to share that a significant number of project awards were announced for Chester County recipients in December!
The awards are from various programs through the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), PA Department of Transportation (PennDOT), and PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).
One of the largest grant funding opportunities in the state is DCED's Statewide Local Share Account. This round of the program provided over $282-million for 1,329 projects that 'improve the quality of life in the community' across PA, with 51 of those projects in Chester County totaling $11,664,083.
Highlighted awards include:
- Coatesville City — Fire Apparatus — $600,000
- East Fallowfield Township — Reconstruction of Mortonville Road Bridge — $475,000
- Sadsbury Township — Octorara Road Bridge Replacement — $511,563
- Tredyffrin Township — Friendship Park Revitalization — $350,000
- West Chester Borough — WCFD Fire Engine Replacement — $818,576
- West Nottingham Township — OAHA History Center Acquisition — $700,000
Under DCED's Act 13 Programs, Chester County received a total of $766,000 in funding through three programs:
Flood Mitigation ($125,000):
- $65,000 to West Chester Borough for the West Chester Brick Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Phase II
- $60,000 to West Whiteland Township for the Burgoyne Road Embankment
Greenways, Trails, and Recreation ($491,000):
- $50,000 to Chester County for the Chester Valley Trail West, Enola Low Grade Extension Phase I
- $110,000 to Kennett Area Park Authority for Anson B. Nixon Park's Historic Water Works
- $56,000 to New Garden Township for the Smedley Preserve Phase I
- $60,000 to Schuylkill Township for the Sedgley Farms Park Master Plan
- $195,000 to Uwchlan Township for Shamona Peck Nature Play Area & Park Improvements
- $20,000 to West Bradford Township for Embreeville Park
Watershed Restoration and Protection ($150,000):
- $150,000 to New London Township for New London Kirk Farm Stream Restoration

Through PennDOT's Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) and the Green Light-Go! Program, Chester County received the following funding:
MTF ($240,747):
- West Bradford Township — installation of naturalized trails, ADA pedestrian improvements, and new culverts on Broad Run Road — $113,920
- West Goshen Township — storm sewer and pedestrian improvements on Montgomery Avenue — $126,827

Green Light-Go! ($1,501,816):
- East Whiteland Township — modernize Lancaster Avenue and Conestoga Road — $191,870
- Upper Uwchlan Township — upgrade detection and controller equipment at Route 100 and Graphite Mine Road — $920,306
- West Whiteland Township — upgrade multiple intersections along Route 100 and Commerce Drive — $389,640

And finally, DCNR's Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2) awards for 2025 were announced, providing 24 awards to Chester County totaling over $6-million. Some Chester County highlights include:
- $500,000 toward the design for the rehabilitation of the Downingtown Trestle in East Caln and West Bradford Townships.
- $65,000 to the Chester County to prepare a county-wide tree canopy plan.
